StyleFiles: What I Wore ~ Interview Style

I had an interview this past week for a visual merchandising position (totally what I LOVE to do!) and this is what I wore for the interview! Let me just start off by saying – I got this dress on major sale at Target last year for only $8! And even better than that price – it has pockets!! Ahh I know- Isn’t everything WAY better with pockets?! So this lovely gem of a dress is perfect for interviewing because it is not too flashy, it is appropriate in length, it is not low cut, and yes, even though it does have pockets, it is still dressy enough for an interview due to it’s shape and fabric.  Okay- as far as jewelry normally I would say keep it simple – like pearls, but since I work in fashion I got lucky and expressing your individual since of style is often not only appreciated, but expected.  For this reason, I wore this statement necklace, kept my shoes neutral, and added a pop of animal print with my purse.  Also I felt super comfortable in this outfit – which is very important while interviewing, if you feel uncomfortable you just won’t present yourself as best as you can.  So to sum up my interview outfit – comfortable, chic, a pop of personality, and POCKETS – what more could a girl ask for?!

Crushing In: Black Dress – Target ($8 – on major sale!), Nude Peep Toe pumps – Candies via Kohls (old), Leopard Coach purse (gifted), Light Pink Statement Necklace – H&M ($12), Light Pink Bangle – The Limited ($12 – on sale!), Light Pink Studs – Francesca’s Collections ($12)
What do you think of my interview outfit? Would you wear this to an interview? Why or why not?
Oh and P.S. - I got the job!! woo hoo!!! :)
I hope everyone had a fabulous week and you have an even better weekend! If you live  in the Atlanta area - Check out the Celebrate Freedom Concert tomorrow! It is free and TONS of amazing Christian artists will be playing all day! Maybe I'll see you there! :)

StyleFiles: Trend of the Month Link-up: Statement Necklace

Statement Necklaces – I’m kind of obsessed! When I saw the trend of the month link-up on Marionberry Style I knew I wanted to join in – my problem was picking out which necklace to wear! I wanted to do a post where I mixed prints and I decided to wear this lovely red statement necklace (which I may or may not have in multiple colors! Ha).  I thought – this post is perfect for link-up and ta-da here ya go! My first successful blogging link-up! Woo hoo! :)

Crushing In: Striped Top - Franceaca's Collections ($34), Polka Dot Skirt- Francesca's Collections - ($38), White Pumps - Charlotte Russe (old)

Crushworthy Jewels: Red Statement necklace - Francesca's Collections ($24), Red Rhinestone Earrings - Francesca's Collections ($14), Watch - Fossil (gifted), White Bead Wrap Bracelet - Francesca's Collections ($18), White Studded Bangles - Forever 21 ($7/ set of 6)
Print mixing -  everyone is doing it... I'm a copycat! Lately I have been loving this trend - it forces me to think outside the box plus, its fun to experiment! This outfit is def. one of my favorite mixing combos thus far.  I love polka dots and stripes and together I have found my perfect print mixing combo! I'm sure you know this already, but I'll just go ahead and say it again - there are not too many rules for print mixing, the only one I would stick to is to stay in the same color scheme.  It helps to make your look cohesive, other than that have fun! If you have been experimenting with prints I would LOVE to see your take - please share a link to your post in a comment so I can check it out!
Okay let’s talk statement necklaces for a sec – for me personally I say don’t spend a lot on them because they are very trendy.  Generally, the trendier the item the less I spend on it… My monthly shopping budget is tight so I choose to spend my money on items I will wear A TON! And quality is important as well, no matter how cheap something is if it breaks the first time you wear it- it is not worth it! I have found a stores (i.e. Francesca’s Collections – I know, shocker! Haha) that has jewelry I love at a very affordable price and most pieces I have had with no problems, which is important! Now, don’t get me wrong – I am obsessed with 99.9% of all J.Crew necklaces, and if I received one as a gift I would most definitely wear that thing to death, but I just can’t spend $100+ dollars on a necklace I might not wear next year.  Is this weird? Do you buy statement necklaces, regardless of price, or do you prefer to splurge on timeless pieces of jewelry like muah?
P.s. I just wanted to say thank you SOOO much to Josh (my amazing boyfriend and resident blog photographer) for taking pictures all the time! I put that first pic up just for you – I know how excited you were about that one! The wind was definitely on your side :) love you mucho!
Happy hump-day!

Click A Pic Challenge Link-up

So a few weeks back I found this fun link-up photo challenge over at messy.dirty.hair . I live on instagram so I knew it would be perfect for my first link up experience! Haha or so I thought… today I venture over to link up and there is no link up :( tear.  So I am still going to post and if they do decide to post I will totally link up! The challenge was to snap pics of friends, awkward, travel, fun, and late night–here is my take on the challenge –ENJOY!
These two… my family has had Sadie since my freshman year of college and when I moved back and brought Asher home, lets just say MAJOR JEALOUSY! But I have been back over a year and these two have become best buds (whether they admit it or not!) – they are the cutest friends :)
Awkward was a toughie, not because awkward never happens in my life, but because awkward happens all the time! Haha I chose to display Josh for awkward – because, well, he completes my awkwardness and I caught his awkwardness on camera! Lucky him! We were at Universal Studios and trying to get him to fit in the electric chair was hilarious, and sometimes he gets all awkward when he feels like people are waiting on him – people were waiting to take pics, he didn’t want to take the pic, and he didn’t fit in the chair – for him, all around awkward, for me, pure laughter :) anddd I’m pretty sure I take the award for the most awkwards in one post, just sayin!
Josh and I had the chance to go to Amelia Island this summer for a few days, well actually we had to leave early because of flood warnings, but the one day we got to go to the beach was great, and this is the pic from that day! The beach is our favorite place to travel! What about you? Do you love the beach or are you more of a cool weather kinda girl?
LOVE working out! I have so much fun learning new ways to push myself – right now I am loving yoga and pilates… for me exercise = FUN!
Late night / longest night ever – Josh and I went to the movie marathon for Avengers.  It was 12 hours of non-stop Marvel superhero movies, yes we are total nerds, feel free to laugh :) It was actually tough, sitting there for 12 hours, we didn’t make it and left for an hour to eat – but overall- pure awesomeness! The Avengers started at midnight (obvi) and we were there til 3am I think.  If you knew me- you would know I am a grandma at heart and 11 is my bedtime (earlier is even better!) so for me, this was one late night!

Any fun link -ups you like?! Let me know - I would love to find more! :)
Have a beautiful day!

StyleFiles: What I Wore ~ Wedding

Well hello- I hope everyone had a great weekend! I had the chance to go to one of my good friends weddings.  She was a beautiful bride, and it was definitely one of those weddings that you could just feel the love. :) I totally forgot my camera- sorry for the lack of pics from the wedding!
As for the dress, the wedding was held outside, and I knew it was going to be hot – But my dress kept me cool (well, as cool as I could be, but sweating def happened!) and just in case we got to do some dancing I knew I would be comfortable enough to bust a move or two in it.
Dress - Ann Taylor LOFT (old), White Sandals - Rampage (old), White Skinny Belt - LOFT (old)

We didn’t get a chance to dance, but they had this great photobooth with lots of props – it was SOOO much fun! I will def be doing something like this at my wedding!

Jill (the bride) and I have been friends for as long as can remember.  We were neighbors while growing up and our families were close, and for that reason me and my mom were invited- it was really awesome to go with my mom and Josh! We all had a blast, and it was so great to see her family- some of whom I haven’t seen in years!

Have a beautiful week :)
Much love!

FitnessFiles: Eats ~Snack Edition

So, if you have read my about page, you already know health and fitness are a HUGE part of my life!  I believe nutrition is the most important aspect of healthy living, however, it is often overlooked or misunderstood. I hope throughout this “Eats” series you find encouragement, new facts, yummy AND healthy eats, and advice you feel like you can incorporate into your daily life! After all, if I have learned anything from my experience with nutrition - it has to be attainable AND delicious, it’s all about progress.  If there is ever anything you want to see on here please let me know! You can leave a comment or send me an email (danielleadams28@gmail.com).  Please note I am not a registered dietician and all advice given on here is strictly from my personal experience. I promise if you ask anything I do not know the answer to – I will do my best to find an answer for you! More often than not – I’ll ask Josh (he’s my nutrition guru / amazing cook!) he knows WAYYY more than I do about all things nutrition.

Starting off the series I’m going to share my top 3 favorite snacks! Keep in mind I do not like LOATHE cooking, so you will not find much of that around here. Snacks are no exception. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Emerald Vanilla Roast Almonds – ohmydeliciousness, these puppies are like mini cookies in your mouth! If you have not tried them, these are my top recommendation! I have not met one person who does not like them.  Unfortunately, I cannot find them anywhere except for SOME Targets, and when I do there is only like 2 or 3 left. Sorry if you find they are sold out, I probably bought the rest of the stock. Oops.  (Also, the cocoa roasted ones are delish as well)

2. Terra Cinnamon Sweet Potato and Apple chips (Warning: These are addictive, so for portion control I recommend getting out how much you want and putting the bag back- far, far away!) I have also tried the Terra Original Veggie chips they are very good too especially with some guac. (All varieties gluten free)

3. Blue Diamond NutThin Crackers (all varieties are gluten-free) – I eat these every day, and tend to make meals with them, partly bc of their deliciousness, partly due to my lack of cooking skills.   I have tried the Almond NutThins with a Hint of Sea Salt, the Pecan NutThins, and the Almond NutThins with Chedder Cheese.  The last two options are my faves! I can eat these alone or make a meal with them- here are a couple of my meal options:

        * 1 serving (about 16 crackers) with a Laughing Cow garlic and herb cheese wedge and honey ham (I eat Hormel honey ham –its gluten free) I make little ham and cheese cracker sandwiches
        * 1 serving with a Laughing Cow tomato and basil cheese wedge and sliced pepperoni ( I try and get the reduced sodium kind if they have it) If you like pizza, these will become your new best friends! They are like mini pizzas! This is by far my favorite way to eat these delicious crackers.

Side note: I do not have Celiacs Disease, I choose to eat mainly gluten free for the health benefits.  If you are curious what these are I will answer any questions via email and I am sure I will do a post about gluten soon!

Just a brief history - Josh and I decided to start watching our gluten intake about a year and a half ago.  Over the course of that time I have not only felt SO much healthier, but I have also lost a significant amount of weight (which was not my original intention).  For me, watching gluten was a part of a total lifestyle change.  I am so thankful for that change, because I have found new passions for exercise and healthy living. Here is a picture of my transformation:
I would love to hear about your favorite go-to healthy snacks and if you have tried any of my suggestions! If so, did you love them as much as me?!
Also, if you have experienced a lifestyle change I would love to hear all about it! Email me at danielleadams28@gmail.com. We can share and encourage eachother! :)

Be healthy. Be confident. Be beautiful.
Much love!

StyleFiles: Weekend Wear ~ Boho Style + Closet Remixing

Currently Crushing In: Crochet Vest – H+M ($20) similar - ON SALE, Tank – American Eagle (old) Similar - ON SALE, Coral Cut Offs – Rue21 (old) similar - ON SALE, Boots – Charming Charlie ($23), Belt – American Eagle (old) similar
Arm Candy and Jewels: Peace Sign Earrings – gifted, Peace Sign Necklace – American Eagle ($6- On Sale!), Bead Bracelets – gifted, White Wrap Bracelet – Francesca’s Collections ($18)
Of all my weekend outfits lately, this outfit is by far one of my faves.  It is a full on closet remix – not one new item!  In fact, most everything I have had for at least a year! As much as I love to shop, I get a little excited when I make an outfit up entirely from pieces I already had.  I feel all thrifty-like!
What about you? Do you enjoy remixing your closet or is it just too much work?
If you chose the “too much work” option - I totally recommend setting aside a day (yes, a whole day) to rethink your closet.  Take those items you NEVER wear and donate or sell them, trust me that occasion or party you are potentially saving them for, it won’t happen. If you are saving them for a day when they actually fit, let them go! Trust me, you lose that weight or workout for those killer legs, you are going to want to buy yourself a new outfit! This is the first step- and I would definitely say it’s the hardest.  But, once you purge your closet of those unnecessary items – it will open a whole world of possibilities! Next step, organize! This can also be super difficult – if you need help in this department there are tons of ideas on pinterest (cheap version) or you can hire a stylist, many will come organize your closet and create some looks for you, too! If you live in the Atlanta area I would love to help you organize and style your closet, you can contact me at danielleadams28@gmail.com.  If a stylist isn’t in the budget, I suggest organizing your closet by either color or style or both.  For example, hang all of your short sleeve shirts together and color code them, that way when you go to your closet and you are looking for a blue shirt to wear with those shorts you know exactly where to look.  This helps with putting together outfits and saves on time, double whammy!
I would love to hear some of your closet organizing ideas! Have pictures? Even better! Please share or send me a link!

P.S. If you noticed the photo effects - I just discovered Picassa! I had some fun, maybe too much! ha
Have a beautiful day!

Weekend Recap + Crushworthy Links

Well needless to say, this weekend flew by! I felt like I never stopped moving!  I am looking forward to a weekend full of quality time with the bf and family, hopefully I can make that happen next weekend.  As for this weekend, Friday and some of Saturday Josh and I spent taking fitness pics, I had a blast – he was a great sport! (Babe, if you are reading this, thanks it means so much to me!) Saturday night I rushed home to go see The Odd Life of Timothy Green with my mom – we were SO excited to see it! As promised in my about page whenever I see a movie, which is entirely too much, I will give you my take.  I don’t know if I was just hyperemotional or what, but I pretty much cried/sobbed the entire stinkin’ movie!! Even in parts that were not considered sad.  I don’t know what’s going on with me lately- I’m just becoming a huge mush-ball! There were a bunch of super cute and funny moments, too (don’t let my mushy self deter you from seeing it!) Mom and I both still really liked it! Def recommend!

Has anyone else seen it? I’m curious if anyone else cried the whole time like me? Haha

Today, after I recovered from my sob fest, I had my first day at Chene Rouge, a wedding venue in Hiram, Ga! If you live in Georgia and are a soon to be bride – I totally recommend checking it out! There is a beautiful outside courtyard and even more beautiful indoor ballroom! I will be helping plan weddings there and I could not be more thankful for the amazing opportunity! Today we held a bridal shower for all of our brides – I will def post a pic or two when I get them. It was gorgeous!

All and all it was pretty darn great – oh except I forgot, I got bit by a stupid fire ant - that was BLACK! Did you know fire ants could be black?! I didn’t, but my poor little foot now knows. L It’s all swollen and itchy… just in case you don’t believe me – here’s evidence
ummm…maybe it doesn’t look that bad, but it really, really itches! Silly ant!
Okay, done being a baby. Here – do some crushing J
